At Horrocks, we believe that every employee is critical to improving our communities and contributing to our overall success. Heather Abi-Khalil in our Albuquerque, New Mexico, office finds purpose in her role as the Albuquerque Administrative Assistant by supporting her office and helping ensure the success of her teams. After successfully running her own business where she designed, marketed, and sold her own products, she joined the Horrocks team and has held a crucial role for 6 years. As the second employee hired by Horrocks in Albuquerque, Heather was essential in helping set up the office there as well as opening the Las Cruces office.

Heather and her husband, Habib, lead Horrocks’ Albuquerque team and have a lot of fun working together. They enjoy cultivating a warm, welcoming work environment in their office by planning parties, entertaining employees and clients, and ensuring their employees have the tools they need to succeed. Transcript: My name is Heather Abi-Khalil, and I'm the Administrative Assistant here in the Albuquerque office. I find a lot of purpose in my work. There are a lot of tasks that need to be done. I assist all the engineers, and I've also helped with some of the SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) background work. I get to do all the ordering, which is nice because I love shopping, so that fulfills that need. I do feel involved in the day-to-day engineering of this office, even though I do not have an engineering background. I actually have gotten to learn a lot about roads and bridges transportation, and I sit in on a lot of meetings which gives me information that I would not otherwise have. I just feel like I have a very important role here and I feel like management makes me feel that way as well. I think that Horrocks does a really good job of making everyone feel special - everyone feels important, and everyone feels needed. We live and work in this community and we want to see the community succeed, and we just want to be a small part of it. So, anything we can do to give back to them – there are so many needs in our community and communities across the United States. Where you live and work is important to those people — to the elementary schools and to the food banks — and we do whatever we can do here to make that just a little bit easier on them. I think Horrocks really puts the whole company behind that and helping others.
