Horrocks Engineers has been providing civil engineering and related services in Nevada since 2010, and our first Nevada office was established in Las Vegas in December of 2013. Since that time, our operations in the Silver State has grown tremendously to include more than 60 employees and another office in Reno to serve clients in northern Nevada.
A New Reno Office
Horrocks Engineers’ Reno, Nevada operations have moved to a new Horrocks office at 9650 Gateway Drive. This move allows us to accommodate our growing Nevada team, which has added a Senior Transportation Planner and Senior Engineer in recent months. Horrocks’ Nevada Operations Manager, Wayne Horlacher, commented on this expansion, “The new office and recent hires in the Reno market are key to supporting our on-going work and continued growth in the region.”
Serving Reno, Tahoe, and Northern California
Horrocks is currently working as a joint partner with Ames Construction on a major Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Design-Build project in Reno. The first phase of the DOT’s Spaghetti Bowl Xpress Project (SBX) will address safety and congestion in critical areas of the system-to-system interchange in the center of Reno. Horrocks’ work in northern Nevada also includes projects such as the USA Parkway Design-Build serving the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, preliminary design of Stonegate Interchange on US 395, and numerous subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services for NDOT and other clients throughout the Reno/Tahoe region. In addition to supporting these projects, our Reno office is contracted to provide program management services for the Lake Tahoe Transportation District. We look forward to serving these communities and the many government agencies throughout northern Nevada as we take on more projects, whether those projects are simple utility investigations or major transportation designs.
An Experienced Team
The Horrocks team in Reno has expanded and currently includes experts with many years of experience in Nevada public works projects. Amir Soltani, Senior Transportation Consultant, joined Horrocks after 30 years at NDOT where he served as Chief of Project Management. Complementing Amir’s expertise in program management is the legal expertise provided by Lou Holland, Senior Attorney, who has helped to develop state guidelines for alternative delivery projects and provides legal review for Horrocks’ other departments. Public Involvement Specialist, Mindy Cannady, has 28 years of marketing, communication, and business development experience and is currently providing public/stakeholder involvement services for the Reno SBX Design-Build project. Also based in Reno, Casey Connor recently joined the team as a Project Manager following eight years of experience as the Assistant Chief Roadway Engineer for NDOT. Many additional members of Horrocks’ staff provide integral support for projects in and around Reno, including Alfred Knotts, Senior Transportation Planner; Lance Hammons, Senior Transportation Engineer; and John Dorny, Principal Traffic Engineer.
