Where does our drinking water come from?
Water covers about 70% of the Earth. But did you know that only a small part of this water is safe for you to drink? The fresh water we use every day comes from streams, lakes, and under the ground. So, how does it get to your house?
Water resource engineers design systems that collect water from various places and send it to a treatment plant. At the treatment plant, the water is filtered. That means it goes through a system to make sure nothing yucky, big or small, is in the water. After treatment, the clean water is stored in a water storage tank or sent directly through a system of pipes into your home.
Water engineers help us to get clean water whenever we need it.
