PROJECT BACKGROUND

As the interchange nears its design capacity, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), will be constructing phased renovations to the spaghetti bowl and approximately 12 miles of nearby interstate—to enhance mobility and safety for the Truckee Meadows.

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the entire project was completed, with a Final EIS Record of Decision on July 30, 2019. The project is anticipated to be constructed in five phases over 20 years, with an estimated cost of more than $2 billion.
